“It felt good right away”: Sophie & Laura on their IUI journey with the Caro app

Sophie (31) and Laura (30) have been living together in Waalwijk for almost five years. From the start, they shared one big dream: to start a family together. This wish eventually brought them to the Medisch Centrum Kinderwens (MCK) in Leiderdorp. During their IUI journey, the Caro Health app provided them with the overview and support they needed: from the first step to the birth of their daughter.

Growing love in a special time

“It was really love at first sight,” Laura recounts about their first meeting in 2019. During the Covid period, they decided to move in together. “That felt like the right step; we were ready to build a future,” Sophie adds.

From their very first dates, Sophie and Laura spoke openly about their desire to have children. “I even mentioned it during our first meeting,” Laura laughs. In 2021, they first welcomed a dog into their lives, but soon began to talk more seriously about children. They didn’t yet know exactly how they would approach it, but the topic came up more frequently and grew into a shared dream.

We even sent a photo of our positive pregnancy test via the app, just to share that joyous moment. Anything goes, and that feels really nice in such an exciting process.”

The first introduction to the app

When their journey began, Sophie and Laura got acquainted with the Caro Health app right away. “From the very first moment, it was clear how important the app would be for our process,” Sophie explains. “We received an explanation about the features and how it would help us keep track and stay in touch with the team.”

The couple decided that Laura would carry the pregnancy and started an IUI journey. The app became an important part of this journey from day one and helped them until the moment their daughter was born.

The app in practice

“The app is very user-friendly,” Laura shares. “It’s very accessible to get in touch with your case managers if you want to. We could keep track of exactly when my period started, when I needed to start ovulation testing, and report a positive test with one click. An IUI appointment was automatically scheduled from the clinic. Previously, you had to email forms, which was a lot more work for everyone.”

In addition to practical functions, the app offered reliable information and articles. “It gave us a sense of security,” Sophie states. “You don’t have to Google everything; you know the information aligns with your journey.”

The chat function made contact even more accessible. “We didn't hesitate to use it,” Laura adds. “We even sent a photo of our positive pregnancy test via the app, just to share that joyful moment. Anything goes, and that feels really nice in such an exciting process.”

Advice for other couples

For couples who are at the beginning of their journey, Sophie and Laura have a clear tip:

“Make a list of everything you want to know or have questions about. Everything is open for discussion via the app.”

And for those who are in the midst of their journey:

“Need a pep talk? Send a message via the chat or schedule a phone call. The team is always there for you, even if you just want to chat.”

Looking back with confidence

Sophie and Laura look back on their experience with warmth. “The combination of personal guidance and the app gave us peace and confidence,” Sophie shares. “It made the whole process less stressful and much more special.”

They also see how the app continues to develop. “Our journey began in 2022, and now, in 2025, we are already noticing improvements,” Laura states. “It's nice to see that the app keeps innovating with the interests of clients as the priority.”
